Catellus History
Santa Fe Pacific Realty Corporation was formed in 1984 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corporation. The company’s role was to conduct all non-railroad real estate activities for Santa Fe Industries and Southern Pacific Company.
These railroad landholdings allowed the company to develop and manage properties positioned strategically next to the country’s busiest seaports, along rail and roadway transportation routes and in proximity to metropolitan areas.
In 1990, Santa Fe Pacific Realty Corporation became Catellus.
